People who want to be prepared if a terror-laden situation erupts have a chance to learn valuable defensive skills July 20 and 21 in Manchester Township.

Manchester police host Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (ALICE) training, based on guidelines set by the U.S. Departments of Homeland Security and Education and the Federal Emergency Management Agency.

The two-day training session will take place at Manchester Township High School on Colonial Drive.

ALICE prepares individuals for situations involving active shooters or violent intruders, offering survival skills to be employed until law enforcement details arrive. The methods and principles can be applied in spots such as schools, universities, houses of worship, hospitals, and other workplaces, police said.

Training includes case studies, policy and procedure review, infrastructure design, proactive use of technology, community resource assistance, mass evacuations. trauma first aid, practical scenario training and lesson preparation.

Registration can be completed on the ALICE website, at a cost of $595 per person.
