Police in Brick are hoping you can help them find a township woman with dementia who went missing Thursday afternoon.

71-year old Nellie Llera was last seen leaving her 20th avenue home around 2:30 pm wearing a blue and white striped shirt and black or blue pants.

If a child goes missing or the weather's about to take a sharp turn for the worse, would you be among the first to know?

Several towns and counties in New Jersey have their own emergency alert systems, but you may need to register to get the info you need.

Another overdose death Thursday in Toms River underscores the urgency that township officials place on retaining two outside law firms to challenge the pharmaceutical industry.

Mayor Tom Kelaher said that profit-driven sales pressure victimizes not only patients, but doctors who prescribe the painkillers.

"Their sales representatives touted all of the benefits without ever once talking about the hazards of it," said Kelaher.

The firms charge no fees, but would get a share of whatever terms are eventually reached.
