An 18-year-old mom and her baby narrowly escape serious injury after a fire rips through a house in Stafford.

Police said that firefighters summoned to Yeoman Road in the Ocean Acres section found flames enveloping the lower floor of the house when they arrived at about 2:25 PM.

Without identifying the young mom, police said that Stafford Township first-aiders rushed her and infant son to Southern Ocean Medical Center.

According to police, the woman suffered burns on the upper torso and upper right leg. The baby was given precautionary examinations.

Authorities believe that the blaze began in the living room on the first floor. Investigators next try to determine the cause.

Barnegat and Stafford firefighters combined efforts to knock down the flames. The investigation is now in the hands of the Ocean County Fire Marshall and the Stafford Township Bureau of Fire Prevention.
