Woman, Officer Hurt When SUV Hits Manchester Police Cruiser

Authorities say an alleged drunken driver crashed her sport utility vehicle into a parked police car on Route 70 in Manchester, leaving both the driver and an officer injured.

Manchester Township Police Capt. Lisa Parker says in a press release that Patrolman Adam Guker had stopped another vehicle on Route 70 and was headed back to his cruiser when the SUV driven by 25-year-old Aphrodite Rakos of Brick struck his car around 3:30 a.m. Sunday

Both Rakos and the 32-year-old Guker were taken to a hospital, but their injuries were not considered serious.

The crash forced authorities to shut down a stretch of the highway in the Ocean County community for several hours.
