She's the winner of the 15th annual Excellence in Education award presented by state Senator Jim Holzapfel and Assemblymen Dave Wolfe and Greg McGuckin (R-10). The ceremony took place this morning at the school.

Each year, lawmakers representing the district confer the honor to a local elementary, middle or high school instructor who exemplifies commitment and dedication to the cause of education.

"Mrs. Kachoogian has established an admirable reputation at Lanes Mill Elementary School. She excels in classroom management and supports her students learning in an enthusiastic and creative environment," Holzapfel said in a prepared statement.

"Once we reviewed Mrs. Kachoogian's resume it was obvious that her commitment to teaching extends beyond the classroom.  She has dedicated many hours designing innovative and challenging lessons for students including those with learning disabilities. Mrs. Kachoogian stands as a symbol of excellence in teaching and is a model for those who teach or desire to make a difference in our children's future," Holzapfel said.

Wendy earned her undergraduate degree at Houghton College in New York state, and holds a Masters of Science in Education from Monmouth University.
