Watch for lane shifts and a bridge closure Wednesday night at two longstanding state road construction projects - one on each end of Ocean County.

In Point Pleasant, the Lovelandtown Bridge on Route 13 is scheduled to be off-limits for traffic during testing, from about 9 PM on April 11 until about 6 AM April 12.

Route 13 is actually an unmarked half-mile of Bridge Avenue (County Route 632) from Hollywood Avenue in Point Pleasant, over the Point Pleasant Canal, to just east of Bay Avenue (County Route 604) in Bay Head. The canal is part of the 1,500-mile Intracoastal Waterway that reaches from Maine to Florida. The U.S. Coast Guard requires that NJDOT open the bridge on demand for approaching vessels.

Traffic will be diverted via Beaver Dam Road, Route 88 and Bay Avenue.

The same night, both lanes of Route 9 in Tuckerton shift to the east between Great Bay Boulevard and South Green Street. It's a reversal of the pattern that's been in place since last July.

The roadwork is connected to a $5,500,000 overhaul of the Pohatcong Lake dam as part of the Safe Dam Act. Crews are building a spillway designed to withstand a "100-year storm." The project is expected to wrap up by Spring 2013.
