50-year-old Prantosh Drejaj of Browns Mills was operating a black, 2005 Harley Davidson Sportster on Route 70 west when it struck a blue, 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe stopped in traffic waiting to turn left onto Roosevelt City Road in the Whiting section of the Township shortly before 3:30 p.m., authorities said.

The impact caused the motorcycle operator and his 22-year-old passenger, Linda Drejaj, also of Browns Mills, to be throw from the motorcycle. The motorcycle slid almost 50 feet on its side before coming to rest on a dirt portion of the shoulder.

Both of the motorcycle riders were airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune with significant trauma, including face, chest and leg injuries, according to police.

The driver of the Hyundai, 63-year-old Kathleen Driver, was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for head pain.

Quality Medical Transport, MONOC Paramedics, and Penn Star and Southstar Medevacs assisted with the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by Patrolman Ian Bole from the Manchester Township Traffic Safety Section.
