Two New York men face aggravated assault and a host of weapons offenses following what's described as a machete-type attack on three individuals in Mantoloking Wednesday night. The Ocean County Prosecutors Office says the incident happened in the area of Route 35 and Herbert Street at around 7:09 p.m. Police stopped a blue Subaru with New York license plates following the attack and arrested Manhattan resident Michael Villanueva, 25, and Lenin Herrera, 26, of Harlem.

The Prosecutors office says Mantoloking Police observed blood on the arms and clothing of back seat passenger Villanueva. Shortly after the arrest, they also learned that three individuals were being treated at Centra State Hospital in Freehold. Two suffered slashing and penetrating wounds inflicted by a sharp weapon that they allegedly sustained during the violent encounter with Villanueva and Herrera.

The suspects are charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and other weapons charges. Their bails are $250,000 no 10% each.
