Toms River man killed in motorcycle crash

A 26-year-old motorcyclist from Toms River has died after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection Thursday night, according to Township police. 

Zachary Kane, a onetime football standout at Toms River High School North, was traveling east on Wave Way on his 2012 Yamaha Motorcycle, when he collided with a 2009 Nissan Altima heading south on Harbor View around 10:14 p.m., according to police department spokesman Ralph Stocco.

Stocco said Kane was flown my helicopter to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where he died from his injuries early this morning.

Police did not indicate whether the 17-year-old driver, also from Toms River, was injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
