The Asbury Park Press reports the Ocean County Office of Weights and Measures recently filed a complaint against the bank’s Toms River office, saying that because it charges some customers to use the machines, they need to be inspected.

The bank is contesting the county’s right to inspect its machines and plans to ask a judge to dismiss the case. A hearing is scheduled in municipal court on July 16.

The coin-counting machines used to be free to anyone. But now the bank charges people who are not customers of the bank a 6 percent fee to use them.

Because of that, the county says, the machines must be inspected.
