There's been much discussion leading up to "Back To The Future Day" about what's actually become reality in 2015 and what's still only movie imagination magic.
Back in 1989 when Back To The Future II came out, 2015 seemed an awfully long way off. From visions of hoverboards and flying cars, neither of which have truly been achieved yet, now that the "future" is here, Pepsi wants to bring at least one prediction to reality.
As any movie fan worth their salt will undoubtedly recall, Back to the Future Part II imagined a timeline in which we had hoverboards, automatic lace-up sneakers, futuristic Pepsi (more on that here), and…Jaws 19. Robert Zemeckis’ time-traveling sequel was almost eerily prescient in its imagining of the future of blockbuster franchises, and now there’s an official trailer for Jaws 19 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of one of the best film franchises in history.
With 2015 being the year Back to the Future II envisioned as the future, everyone is looking to celebrate what the future of 1989 was supposed to look like. Earlier this year, Nike announced they’d be releasing a version of Marty McFly’s self-lacing Air Mags. And now, Lexus may have one-upped them, releasing a teaser video revealing a sneak peek at an actual working hoverboard.
