The Stewart's Root Beer in Toms River is closed, but the landmark eatery is planning to reopen in a different location in the Township.

Al Mattia, Vice President of Franchise Development tells WOBM News the family that had the Stewart's at the corner of Route 37 East and Fischer Boulevard  owned it under an old licensed operation and sold it to 7-Eleven.

Mattia says Stewart's is looking for a franchisee to open another one someone else on Route 37. He says the company has revamped its image while continuing the tradition of bottles and burgers started in 1924 and now available in many retail chains across the country.
