You can win $10,000 dollars by putting together a creative video on why you think Toms River is so great.

The Engage Toms River contest is being hosted by philanthropic organization, Jay and Linda Grunin Foundation. Executive Director Jeremy Grunin said they believe that sharing love and appreciation for the township will have a snowball effect of positivity.

"Once you have people start believing that things are actually better, getting better, on the way to getting better, or are great ... they start acting differently towards each other, frankly towards tourist coming into town, which obviously is all about revenue and it becomes just a snowball that doesn't stop growing," said Grunin.

Grunin said inspiration for the contest came from a 2012 Youtube video produced by Toms River High School East. (Watch Here)

"They danced through the school at Toms River High School East like maniacs, putting on different costumes and having just a load of fun showing off their school spirit. Cheerleaders cheering, athletes doing their thing, the dramatic folks being dramatic and it was the fun, it just popped off of the video," said Grunin.

Grunin said with the help of smart phones and smart technology, putting together videos has become a relatively easy process.

"You have an iPad, you have an iPhone, you have a Droid, whatever you have, you may not get the greatest quality, you're certainly not getting, you know, the perfect quality but you can put a really good product together," he explained.

Individuals or groups can participate. The only stipulation is that you be a Toms River resident.

The deadline for the six week contest is December 1st. Several secondary prizes will also be awarded. Even Ocean County Breakfast Show Host Shawn and Sue will be selecting two of their favorite videos for listeners to choose from and the winner of that, will win a $500 voucher from Go Pro.
