This Week's "Pet of the Week" is Hercules!

This gorgeous young man is Hercules, a 6 year old purebred long-haired rottweiler that would just love to go home where he belongs. Hercules just doesn't understand why he was uprooted from his home, but he is looking forward to meeting a new, loving family that will help him start over. Hercules came to us from our Newark facility after he was given up by his owner, a disabled veteran, when he was no longer able to care for Hercules. Hercules was a bit down in the dumps at first, and understandably so, but now he has made lots of new friends and is optimistic about a bright, new future. Hercules is a calm and gentle boy that is happy to go for a leisurely stroll with you or just lean against you for some attention. You will often see him just lying down, resting, while other dogs are barking at visitors. Occasionally he will get up to join in the barking, but he is content to just chill out on his big bed. When he sees a leash coming his way, he gets his little nub of a tail wiggling and is happy to go out with you. Hercules is well behaved on a leash and will sit nicely when asked. He gets along well with large dogs, but will need a home with no small dogs. He would transition easily into any great home with a good family that he could love and grow old with.
