Shake Shack started as a simple stand in New York City's Madison Square Park in the early 2000s. It quickly became known for both good food and delicious shakes, and also for the lines that would stretch around the corner.

The popularity soon outgrew the park, and Shake Shack expanded in New York City. Soon, they were expanding to New Jersey as well, with a new South Jersey location now open as of this week, and word of another possibly coming to the area soon.

Yesterday, the new Route 70 location of Shake Shack in Marlton cut the ribbon and welcomed their first hungry guests.

But if a trip through the Pine Barrens to Marlton Commons doesn't appeal to you, you'll welcome the news that our sister station 94.3 The Point broke earlier this month, as word got out that Shake Shack is looking at a Route 9 location in Freehold next.

The developers were originally scheduled to go in front of Freehold's Planning Board two weeks ago, but the application hearing was postponed to May 3rd, according to CentralJersey.com.

But for now, you can head down Route 70 and enjoy their great burgers, fries, and of course their famous frozen custard shakes, and we'll be sure to keep you updated on the status of the Freehold location!
