If you're an United Water customer in Toms River, Berkeley or South Toms River and have had a long relationship with your water meter...and the meter reader...it may soon be time to go your separate ways.

United Water plans to work with In Line Services Inc. to replace aged water meters with automated meter reading systems.

These automated meter reading systems have a radio frequency that detects leakage and allows United Water to read your meter from their headquarters.

Company officials say you will no longer have to get stressed out about improper meter readings.

The automatic meter reading will collect data from the meter and the radio frequency will send that data to United Water headquarters for billing.

This does not interfere with cell phones, televisions, DSL, or pacemakers.

"The new system installation takes approximately one hour," said Jim Mastrokalos, Director of Operations. "Service technicians will need access to current water meters on customer property to complete the upgrade."

Customers who have received a letter from In Line Services Inc. can schedule their appointment online.
