Monroe Township-based Amusements of America usually sets up 65 rides, but manager Rob Vivona said since the fair grounds at Ocean County Airport (formerly known as Robert J. Miller Airpark) are smaller, they're bringing a scaled-down version of 18 rides that will include a spectacular mixture.

"We're going to have a Ring of Fire there, and a Bonzai, Gravitron, a Scooter, Wacky Worm Roller Coaster, of course the Merry Go Round, Tilt A Whirl, a dark ride through Fun House and a couple more Fun Houses too," said Vivona.

Vivona explained how they go about deciding which rides to bring, pointing out it largely depends on the amount of space available.

"We try to make it an equal amount of exciting rides. We pick the rides kids like first and then the best for families, like Tilt A Whirl-type rides and the Gravitron, and then we pick our best kiddies rides, and then we pick one Fun House or dark or scary-type Fun House," he said.

Setting up the rides takes about three days, which includes inspections, while tearing them down only takes about a day, according to Vivona.

Vivona added that all rides will be staffed with operators during entire event hours.

The Ocean County Fair takes place July 8 to the 12. Hours: Wednesday and Thursday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday: 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
