Obama Will Not Apologize To Romney For Bain Ads [VIDEO]

President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign says Mitt Romney won’t get the apology he’s demanding. And deputy campaign manager Stephanie Cutter says the Republican presidential candidate should “stop whining.”

Romney called for an apology after Cutter suggested last week that Romney might be guilty of a felony if he misrepresented his position at Bain Capital to the Securities and Exchange Commission. And today, his senior campaign adviser, Kevin Madden, repeated that demand when he appeared with Cutter on the CBS program “Face the Nation.”

Cutter says “he’s not going to get an apology.”

The Obama campaign is questioning whether Romney was at the helm of the private equity firm he founded longer than he has said, during a period when it sent jobs overseas. Romney says he had no active role in Bain once he became head of the Salt Lake City Olympic Games in early 1999.

On CNN’s “State of the Union,” Romney campaign adviser Ed Gillespie said allegations that Romney actually ran the company longer than that are “a lie.”

And he said Romney did five interviews with cable and network news shows Friday so people would know “he’s not a felon.”

Gillespie accused the Obama campaign of saying or doing “anything to keep the highest office in the land, even if it means demeaning the highest office in the land.”
