Knicks’ Jason Kidd Arrested For DUI

Days after signing a new contract with the Knicks, Jason Kidd was arrested for drunk driving on Long Island early Sunday morning.

Kidd was the only one in his 2010 Cadillac Escalade when it hit a utility pole not far from his summer home in in the Hamptons according to the New York Daily News. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries, taken to the Southampton police departmente for arraignment and then released.

Kidd and his wife attended a charity event in East Hampton on Saturday night according to the New York Post.

The 39 year Kidd signed a $9.5million, 3-year deal with the Knicks on Thursday to primarily act as a mentor to Jeremy Lin, whose future with New York is not clear as the deadline approaches for them to match an offer sheet Lin has signed with the Houston Rockets.

“To have a chance to mentor a very good player in Jeremy — be able to share my secrets or what I’ve learned in my 18 years — for him hopefully to take it to another level, it’s something I look forward to doing,” Kidd said during a press conference on Thursday.
