Manchester Police Officer Found Dead In Home

A former Manchester police officer and the son of the township's first police Chief was found dead in his home. 

Reports say 48-year-old Darrin "Mark" Payne was discovered by family members yesterday in his home.  An autopsy is planned.  The Ocean County Prosecutor's Office is investigating.  Payne was the son of Harold Payne who led the force back in 1965.

"All the guys who worked with Mark are saddened by the news," current Manchester Police Chief Brian Klimakowski told the Patch of Manchester.
