A 17-year-old from Ringoes avoids injury when his car careens of a Manchester highway and into a utility pole, but police are looking into how and why it happened.

Authorities say the 2004 BMW 325 was the only car involved in the crash that took place Sunday afternoon around 5:31 PM.

According to police, the car was headed south on County Route 539 when it veered onto the grass shoulder and into the pole - then continued hurtling another 200 feet before coming to rest in a nearby wooded spot.

Whiting volunteer firefighters, Quality Medical Transport and Manchester Auxiliary Police assisted at the scene.
