While Macy's is closing stores across the country, the Ocean County Mall's Macy's is not only staying open, but it's expanding.

Well, sort of.

Our sister station, 94.3 The Point, reported today that part of the 2nd floor of Macy's will become Macy's Backstage.

The "Backstage" extension of the 159 year old department store offers products at deep discounts.

According to the Asbury Park Press, merchandise at Macy's Backstage will range from 20 - 80% off regular price, with a Macy's executive saying,

"The shopping experience will feel more compact and faster," Israel said. "We have priced our goods at Backstage to sell every day. There's no friends and family (pricing). There's no percent off. Every day's a great day to buy."

The work is underway at the Ocean County Mall, and Macy's Backstage is scheduled to open on March 24th.

There are currently 52 Macy's Backstage locations across the country, with the Ocean County Mall location making it the 5th in New Jersey.
