Lisa Rose Ferrara says she became interested in Tent City after seeing a play about the movement.  She began volunteering, and eventually, was inspired to write almost an entire album's worth of songs about the community and its people.  Now, she hopes her music can help make their lives a little brighter.

"I'd like to believe I have uplifted them in some way, that I have helped people to feel a little less lonely, that I have connected with them through music and whatever gifts I have to offer," Ferrara said.

But that's not the only way Ferrara hopes her music can help.  She's also looking for more tangible ways to make a difference.

"I'm actually in the process of looking at studios and looking at software and different ways I can record it," Ferrara said.  "I would like to get a semi-professional recording done and actually start selling that, you know, selling the song and the other ones I've written."

Ferrara hopes the proceeds from those sales could then be used to fund continuing efforts to help the homeless population.

Be sure to check out Ferrara's music at the "Destiny's Bridge" Screening at the Asbury Park Music in Film Festival April 10-12, 2015.  She'll also be performing live during the event.
