Little Egg Harbor man shot and killed by police, authorities say

Little Egg Harbor police responding to a call about a "suicidal male" Tuesday morning, shot and killed a man during a confrontation at his home, according to Ocean County authorities. 

Officers encountered the unidentified man shortly after 11:30 a.m. at 510 Wild Oaks Court, but exactly what transpired is under investigation, and whether the man was armed, possibly with a knife, according to the Asbury Park Press.

Al Della Fave, Ocean County Prosecutor's Office spokesman, could not provide additional details, including the number of officers involved, or whether any cops were injured, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The shooting happened in Royal Timbers condominium complex off Center Street.
