Joshua Everett, 39, emerged as a suspect in a rash of overnight lootings in Bayville, mostly off Route 9 and near the waterfront, according to the Berkeley Township PD Facebook page.
Everett is suspected of roles in more than 20 car burglaries and one house burglary, at present.
He refused to surrender and is currently evading arrest, police said. His bail, on capture, is set at $35,000.
A warrant search conducted January 28 at a Lacey address yielded items seized as evidence of the burglaries, which police said linked Everett to the crimes.
Unlocked cars were rummaged for money, electronics and credit and debit cards, police said. The investigation led detectives to learn that houses were ransacked as well.Lacey Township and Ocean Gate police assisted in the probe. The burglaries are still under investigation and more charges are expected, police said.Anyone aware of Everett's whereabouts are urged to call their own police departments or Berkeley Township Police, 732-341-1132.
