A visitor to Point Pleasant from Jersey City is accused of sexually assaulting a four-year-old boy in the borough.

Russell Cortese, 66, was arrested Sunday following an interview detectives conducted with the alleged victim, according to information from the office of Ocean County Prosecutor Joseph D. Coronato.

He was charged with aggrvated sexual assault and placed in the county jail in Toms River, with bail set at $150,000. Cortese was given no option for release on payment of 10 percent, ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim, and placed under the provisions of Nicole's Law.

A source close to the investigation indicates that the suspect and alleged victim know each other. No information was offered regarding the time, day, place or nature of the incident.

Information given to detectives by the child led detectives to the house he was visiting, and details that developed during the investigation resulted in approval of the charges by Senior Assistant Prosecutor Terry Linardakis, authorities said.
