Home Runs For Heroes Has Resulted In Almost $600,000 In Donations

Home Runs for Heroes is a program that you might not be aware of even if you have attended your fair share of Jersey Shore BlueClaws games over the past 14 years. It is a one-of-a-kind program which awards donations to charitable organizations that support active duty military families as well as veterans who have served our country and we at 92.7 WOBM are proud to be a part of it since its inception.

It’s all due to the generosity of the OceanFirst Foundation which was created 26 years ago by OceanFirst Bank to provide grants to help families, organizations, schools and communities in central and southern New Jersey. In those 26 years they have awarded more than $46 million which has clearly made an impact. The Home Runs for Heroes program is one in which every time a BlueClaws player hits a home run at ShoreTown Ballpark the foundation awards $1000 to the nonprofit military organization that has been matched with that specific inning. With 18 of them involved in this year’s program each inning is shared by two groups with both receiving $1000 for every home run hit.

Entering this season OceanFirst Foundation has donated $562,000 to local military-based non-profits and you can add another $34,000 to that total so far and we have not even reached the midway point of the season. So when you are at ShoreTown this summer and a BlueClaws player hits a home run it not only helps the team but many others.
