A hoverboard is blamed with sparking a fire in a Lacey Township home Sunday night, according to the Lanoka Harbor Fire Department's Facebook page

No one was injured. Fire officials said the residents were in the home when the hoverboard was being charged and appears to have ignited, burning part of the carpet in a room.

The fire is under investigation by the Ocean County Fire Marshall's Office.

Hoverboard owners are being advised to check warranties and recalls and fire officials also suggest not leaving the devices alone while charging them.

16 separate hoverboard fires in a dozen states are under investigation by the federal government.
