Less than two weeks ago I complained about the fact that it was barely the middle of July (and certainly not the middle of summer yet), and back to school displays were already showing up.

In the 11 days since I wrote that article, back to school displays aren't few and far between anymore, they're everywhere.

In addition, back to school commercials have also multiplied exponentially.

In fact, I just heard a commercial that started with, "it's that time! School is starting!"

So what's next?

Yes, that's a Halloween candy display at my local CVS.

I'm writing this on July 23rd. Halloween is still 100 days away!

When I wrote about back to school, some readers pointed out the valid fact that most colleges start up before Labor Day (most Ocean County schools kick off just after Labor Day).

So ok, sure, college students (especially freshman going off to school for the first time) will want to start preparing. I'll give that.

But Halloween candy in July?

If I was a trick or treater, I don't know how happy I would be to get 3 1/2 month old candy in my pumpkin.

So, I hope you enjoyed the 4 weeks of summer that we were allowed to enjoy this year, everybody, I'm sure the Christmas decorations will be up in the next week or two.
