It’s All-Shore Classic week as the 40th edition of New Jersey’s longest-running All-Star football game will be played Thursday night at Shore Regional High School.

The Ocean County team continues to practice at Lakewood High School under the direction of Piners head coach L.J. Clarke while St. John Vianney’s Derek Sininsky runs the Monmouth County team through workouts at his high school facility.

As is often the case there have been some roster changes which we will update later today on shoresportsnetwork.com.  Tickets are $8.00 in advance if purchased in advance from players and $10 at the gate Thursday.  The game will be broadcast on 1160 & 1310AM and streamed live on shoresportsnetwork.com.

If you have not done so you can download the free Shore Sports Network App which is now available from Google Play and the iPhone app store.

In case you missed it over the weekend Jersey Shore won the prestigious Carpenter Cup Baseball Tournament with a 7-2 victory over Delaware North Saturday at Citizens Bank Park, the home of the Philadelphia Phillies.  Jared Bellissimo of Toms River North came up with the big hit, a two-run single in the 5th which put Jersey Shore ahead for good.  Bellissimo drove in six runs in the semifinals and finals and was named the MVP and he got plenty of help from Mariner teammate Mike Nyisztor who drove in two runs and scored two in the championship game.

Toms River South’s T.J. Scuderi had two hits, an RBI and run scored and South’s Justin Fall preserved the victory with three innings of one-hit relief as Jersey Shore won the event for the fifth time in its 32-year history.

As per the wishes of Bill Rankin of Carl’s Fencing, Decking and Home Improvements I am acknowledging that despite a weekend sweep in San Francisco I pretty much have given up on this season for the New York Mets.  Mr. Rankin, who also coaches football at Toms River South and is a diehard Yankees fan, made his way over to my spot on the North Avenue beach in Seaside Park Sunday for one reason only and that was to ask that I publically throw in the towel on this season.

If this is what you were looking for then I hope it brings a smile to your face Bill!
