Four Barnegat residents face extensive drug charges in the wake of a month-long investigation by township police and members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. One of the suspects is also charged with child support violations.

A June 21 search of a Lexington Boulevard house resulted in the arrests of Tyquan Melvin, 25; Marvin Carroll, 30; Jordan Salt, 19; and Rosetta Bennet, 30.

Authorities say they seized drugs classified as controlled dangerous substances during the search.

Melvin is charged with third-degree possession of cocaine and related second-degree counts of possession and distribution in a recreation zone. His bail at the Ocean County Jail in Toms River was set at $75,000.

Salt faces fourth-degree charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and distribution, and third-degree counts of possession with intent to distribute and distribution in a recreation zone. He was sent to the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $45,000 bail.

Carroll and Bennett are charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams. Bennett was released to await a court date.

Carroll also answered to two child support warrants issued in Monmouth County, which police say amounted to $53,718. He was placed in the Monmouth County Correctional Facility in Freehold in lieu of bail.

The Barnegat Police Narcotics Unit was aided by the Ocean County Prosecutor's Special Operations Group and the Stafford Police Narcotis Unit. The warrant was served by the county's southern regional SWAT team and K-9 teams from Barnegat and Little Egg Harbor.
