A large blaze in Toms River leaves a one-story home in ruins.

Several departments responded last night to the Cedar Grove Road home of Maria Bertollini  late Monday night which had heavy smoke pouring out of the garage according to Toms River fire officials.

The home is located not far from the Cedar Grove Elementary School.

The roof of the garage had already collapsed prior to the first arriving engine and the electric service wire to the home fell to the ground which minimally hampered fire suppression operations. The fire had also extended to an Audi, A4 parked in front of the garage.

Officials say Bertollini, her 2 sons along with a dog and two cats all made it out of the home safely although the cats tried to hide from rescue crews.
