Fatal Plumsted Crash Caused By Deer

An Ocean County man is dead after his car struck a deer on Long Swamp Road in Plumsted Friday afternoon.

The Asbury Park Press reports the 59 year old died at the scene.  Police are not releasing the victim's name or town until next of kin is notified.

The man was driving a gray Dodge Durango when a deer suddenly hit the windshield, and then the vehicle crashed head on into a tree.  A white BMW driving west hit the deer first and the collision sent it into his lane.

Two passengers in the Durango were taken to Cooper Medical Center in Camden with non-life-threatening injuries. No one in the BMW was injured.
