Drugs were being manufactured and sold from a Berkeley home, police say

Reports of suspicious activity by concerned Berkeley Township residents leads to investigators searching a home in the Bayville section that allegedly was being used to manufacture and distribute drugs, according to authorities.

Sloop Creek Drive residents, 52-year-old Larry Mac Taggart and 57-year-old Jean Brewer, and Ocean Gate resident, 60-year-old William Faiges, were arrested on February 23 after Berkeley detectives executed a court authorized Search Warrant, according to the Police Department's Facebook page.

Authorities said detectives found marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including a digital scale and packaging material.

Mac Taggart was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Brewer was charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe, and Faiges was charged with theft.

Members of the Ocean County Regional S.W.A.T. and the Ocean County Sheriff's Department K-9 unit all assisted in this investigation.
