Driver in Flaming Car Crash in Brick Faces Charges
The driver of the car that careened into a patch of woods and burst into flames in Brick Township Thursday night faces three counts of assault with auto while driving under the influence.
John Dealto, Jr., of Brick also is charged with DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, and DUI with a minor inside the vehicle, according to information from township police. He's been released to await a court hearing.
Officers responded to Pinecrest Drive and Mandalay Road about 7:20 PM on October 23 to find the car, about 100 feet into the trees, already burning, and determined that everyone inside had escaped, police said.
Brick PD Emergency Medical Service and firefighters from the Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose fire companies turned out in the aftermath.
