The incident unfolded on Fourth Street. Police say that the victim told Officer mark Zrebiec of entering his dwelling and finding a man hiding behind an open bedroom door. He escaped without any confrontation or struggle.

The suspect is described as a thin white male in his early 30s, about 5'8", last seen in a blue shirt and denim jeans with brown pockets.

Detective Pete Aajker is taking confidential information at 732-363-0200, extension 5338.

The burglary is one more in a growing spate of break-ins at homes and small shops in Ocean and Monmouth Counties. An alert homeowner in Toms River thwarted an attempted looting of a neighbor's house by calling 911 Tuesday. The previous day, a Neptune man was charged with four rapid-succession home burglaries Monday in Ocean Township's Wannamassa section.
