Berkeley Township -- An entire day of family fun awaits the residents of Berkeley Township on Saturday, August 20th, during Manitou Park Family Unity Day, 12 noon until 8pm at the park on Third Avenue and Sixth Street.

For only $5, you can spend the day eating barbecue specialties, cooling off with beverages, playing games and marveling at the entrants in the talent show, which has prizes in store for the winners.

In addition, you can test out your coordination and dance moves in their limbo and hula-hoop contests, and show off your moves on the court during the basketball contest.

"We will also have the Ocean County Fire Department at the event with a 'Smoke House' fire safety demonstration," said host Rob Taylor, who adds that school supplies will be given out to families in need.

Mayor Carmen Amato said that if this Family Unity Day matches previous ones, the turnout will be awesome. "There were about 1,000 people there last year, so I encourage everyone to bring their families and enjoy a great day."

To learn more about the event, officials ask you to contact them at the Berkeley Township Recreation Department at 732-269-4456 or the Berkeley Township Recreation web page.
