A drunken driving arrest early Tuesday in Stafford Township leads to a U-Haul driver also being charged with having drugs and possessing stolen items from a Wawa store on Route 72, according to authorities.

Stafford police responded to reports of a possible intoxicated driver at the convenience store, and after talking with Anthony Santore, found he was wanted for two outstanding warrants in Tinton Falls and Interlaken, according to Police Sgt. Robert Conforti.

During his arrest, police also found Santore had stashed stolen items from Wawa in his clothing, including Jack Links beef jerky sticks, Hershey Chocolate bars, Hershey Chocolate syrup, and 2 one pound packages of bacon.

Police also found pot on Santore, Xanax and drug paraphernalia.

Santore was charged with D.W.I., DWI Refusal, multiple CDS charges, shoplifting and issued 10 motor vehicle summonses.

Santore's passenger, Louis Roina, was arrested and charged with possession of Marijuana and Xanax as well.

The U-Haul truck was towed from the scene and both men were transported to the Stafford Township Police Department for processing.

Patrolmen Ed Kunder and Jason Costello were the arresting officers.
