Combustible Trash Suspected in Smoky Toms River House Fire
A house in Toms River nearly goes up in flames this morning, and a volunteer firefighter is hospitalized for smoke inhalation.
According to Police Chief Mike Mastronardy, crews from four fire companies rushed to the dwelling in the Pleasant Plains section at 10:30 AM.
Investigators traced the point of origin to a garbage container standing alongside the attached garage on Rivers Edge Drive. Mastronardy says that flames from the container spread to the garage.
The unidentified firefighter was rushed to Community Medical Center in Toms River.
Members of the Silverton, East Dover and Pleasant Plains fire companies responded along with a unit from Toms River Fire Company One.
