The bankruptcy drumbeat rolls on for yet another popular chain with locations in and around Ocean County.

Claire's, the popular jewelry chain who says that they've, "pierced more than 100 million ears around the world" announced today that they've filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy to try to lower their debt of over $2 billion.

The company includes both Claire's, which has locations at the Ocean County Mall, on Route 35 in Sea Girt, and at the Jersey Shore Premium Outlets in Tinton Falls, as well as Icing stores, which is also in the Ocean County Mall and Monmouth Mall, among their New Jersey locations.

The company didn't announce any store closings and, according to CNN Money, says that they will, "...continue to operate its approximately 1,600 Claire's and Icing brand stores in the United States during the bankruptcy process and expects to complete it by September."

Of course we've seen this before. It wasn't so long ago that Toys "R" Us entered the bankruptcy reorganization process and, well, we know how that turned out.
