According to township police, the 2006 Mitsubishi in the Bayview Corporate Center on Hooper avenue had flames and smoke spewing from its engine area when firefighters, officers and EMS teams arrived at 11:53 AM.

The heat and flames threatened two adjoining cars. Police Officer John Mehl quickly got keys and moved them, restricting the damage, police said. Volunteers of the Silverton Fire Company doused the burning car.

Investigators are tracing the origin and cause. Police have not revealed who owns the cars, whether any were occupied at the time, or conditions in the lot when the flames broke out. They say that a Brick Township resident owns the Mitsubishi, and that it was parked at the time.
