Brick Township molestation suspect charged in Toms River

A Brick Township man suspected of sexually abusing a youngster is charged in Toms River.

John L. Leone, 37, was apprehended Tuesday in the aftermath of a four-month investigation by detectives from Toms River and the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office, according to police.

Authorities offered no information regarding the origin of the investigation, possible connections between the suspect and victim, the specific or general locale of the alleged incident, whether more than one instance is involved, or whether parents of any other children have reason for concern or reason to contact police.

Leone is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child under age five. He was placed in the Ocean County Jail, with bail set at $300,000.
