Boy’s Near-Drowning Sparks Investigation in Lakewood
A Lakewood eight-year-old is in stable condition after coming horrifyingly close to drowning in a pool at a private home Sunday, but a probe of the circumstances is not yet concluded.
Police say only that there were 17 people at the house on Fernwood Court, which contains an in-ground pool. Still to be determined are the circumstances that led to the near-tragedy.
The Lakewood Scoop reports that the boy was unconscious when pulled from the water by two lifeguards-for-hire, who applied CPR until he could be whisked away to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Lakewood police are conducting the investigation in collaboration with members of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office.
