An arrest is made in the early Monday morning shooting of a Neptune Township woman. 22-year-old Asbury Park resident Diquan Speights is charged with Attempted Murder, Burglary and weapons counts and is being held in the Monmouth County Correctional Institution in Freehold on $650,000 bail.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said a joint investigation revealed that Speights allegedly forced his way into the Bangs Avenue Apartment with a handgun then once inside, he encountered the 22-year-old female victim and shot her before fleeing the apartment.

Neptune Township Police received a 911 call at around 4:28 am reporting that a female was shot inside the Bangs Avenue Apartment. Responding police located the victim and transported her to the Jersey Shore Medical Center where she is listed in critical but stable condition.

Speights may not return to the scene of the crime and may not have any contact with his victim, as part of a condition of bail.
