Barbara’s Excellent Annual Mother’s Day Radio Adventure

Justin has invited me to co-host his radio show on the Friday before Mother’s Day for about 6 years now. It’s a lot of fun, and I look forward to it every year. Not too many parents are given the chance to see their adult children in action at their jobs, and it’s fun and enlightening to see what Justin’s work is all about.

I can say, it’s not as easy as it looks! (Although it’s true that radio people don’t have to worry too much when they get up in the morning about what clothes they’re going to wear to work…)

I’ve listened to the radio all my life, but I never was able to appreciate all the behind the scenes work that goes into putting on a show; from programming the music, selling the advertising, and recording the traffic and weather reports, to seeing to it that all the elements come together in the studio at the right time. And it’s all for our entertainment! Think about it – how boring would our lives be without radio?

The other thing that makes it really fun to do, especially now that it can be accessed by anyone with a computer, is that my friends, co-workers, and family in Wisconsin can listen in. So to all those special ladies out there, happy, happy Mother’s Day!

Thank you Justin, I look forward to doing this together again next year!

Love, Justin’s Mom
