Cops in one Ocean County township are asking for your help as they try to track-down two people wanted for allegedly walking-off with a bunch of lumber.

And while every crime is worth solving, especially if you are the victim, perhaps in days prior to the COVID-19 pandemic some stolen lumber wouldn't necessitate an all-hands-on-deck approach to finding those responsible, but between April, 2020, and May, 2021, according to the National Association of Home Builders, lumber prices rose more than 300%.

The Manchester Township Police Department says the two pictured people are, "accused of stealing numerous pieces of dimensional lumber (2x4s) from a construction site located in the area of Second Road and Swan Street in Manchester Township."

As for what the soaring price of lumber is doing to the cost of living in New Jersey, "The rapid price increases and supply issues related to lumber as well as many other building materials have added a level of uncertainty for New Jersey homebuilders and consumers," said Jeff Kolakowski, CEO of the New Jersey Builders Association, to the Townsquare News Network recently. "These unprecedented circumstances are certainly having a negative impact on construction activity and are only adding to New Jersey’s housing affordability problems."

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact the Manchester Township Police Department at (732) 657-6111. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through the department's website.
