Earlier today many were shocked at the announcement of what can truly be called the end of an era as a beloved Toms River business told the public that they will be selling the restaurant.

Wolfie's Deli & Restaurant on Route 37 has been feeding Ocean County for generations, literally.

Just like this very radio station, this year marked Wolfie's golden anniversary, 50 years serving the people of Ocean County.

There is a lot that's remarkable about Wolfie's, not the least of which is the fact that it's still family owned.

As Toms River transformed over the last 6 decades into the commercial center that it is today, Wolfie's stood as a beacon of simpler times, family dinners, and shop owners on a first name basis with their customers.

But today on their official Facebook page, Wolfie's posted an announcement that a lot of us thought could never actually happen:

A true Toms River institution, many lifelong locals have stories of going to Wolfie's, their parents going to Wolfie's, and even their grandparents going to Wolfie's.

It will certainly be sad to likely bid farewell to an old school locally owned and operated business like Wolfie's, but we certainly wish Susan and Stuart Wolf well in their journey, and thank them for feeding Ocean County for all these years!

What are some of your favorite Wolfie's memories? Head over to our Facebook page and reminisce with us!
