Driving through Parkway construction doesn't have to be a chore. But it seems like there are always some drivers who want to make it one.

The Parkway in Ocean County has been dealing with lane closures for construction for a while, and it's going to continue for a while longer, too. So why not make the best of it?

In my experience (which is almost every night), there are always some drivers who don't want to observe common road courtesy and only care about getting as far ahead as they can.

Instead of the generally accepted alternate merge when lanes close down, there will always be someone who needs to squeeze in ahead, there will always be someone who doesn't want to let anyone in, and it seems like at least once a week I see someone zipping up the shoulder so they can get as far ahead as humanly possible before they have to cut everyone off who has been patiently waiting in line and merging.

We're all in this together, and I think it's safe to say that none of us enjoy it. So instead of trying for those extra few inches when we all have somewhere to be, why not try for a little common courtesy? I'm willing to bet it would make things run a lot smoother.
