I'm a big baseball fan. But, as you may know if you've been a regular reader, I'm not a Yankees or Mets fan. I don't root for the Phillies or even the Red Sox. No, I'm a Milwaukee Brewers fan. But this year, for The World Series, I'm pulling for The Mets.

There are a number of things that I like about this year's Mets team - they're a young, scrappy bunch, with a ridiculous amount of talent. But numbers and talent aside, there's something else that I appreciate about the team.

The Mets have always been in the shadow of "America's Team", The Yankees.

True Mets fans know the pain - the Yankees get all the love, while their crew usually gets passed over. It's tough to be a fan of "the other" team.

And the Mets fans that I know have been lifers - they've stuck with their team through good and bad (and there's been plenty of both). And believe me, that's something that I as a Brewers fan can appreciate.

So this year, I'm pulling for The Mets to win it all. Good luck!

Oh, and for the record, that photo above of me in my 2013 Jean Segura All-Star jersey, when the game was held at Citi Field, is the closest I'll ever get to wearing another team's jersey.
