First-responders in Manchester prevent a near-tragedy, lifting a car that rolled over a woman Wednesday afternoon.
Carolee Ramage, 65, of Lakehurst, is hospitalized with broken ribs, internal injuries and skin burns, township police said. She was rushed to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.
Police were summoned to Hampshire Lane, in Crestwood Village, at about 4:28 PM. Officers found Ramage unresponsive, but breathing, under a blue 2011 Hyundai Elantra in the road.
Investigators learned that Ramage was a passenger in the car driven by the owner, Josephine Gant, 71, of Whiting. She nosed the car into her driveway after a shopping trip.
Ramage was remvoing items from the trunk when the car lurched backwards down the driveway and trapped her, police said.
Whiting volunteer firefighters hoisted the car. MONOC paramedicsa and Quality Medical Transport staffers extricated her.
Police said that she is in stable condition. Patrolman Michael O'Hara is investigating the circumstances.
